Shipping Policy
Delivery coverage, methods, timelines, site requirements, and coordination for shipping container delivery nationwide and internationally.
Shipping Policy Overview
This Shipping Policy explains how Outback Shipping Containers LLC ("Outback Shipping Containers," "we," "us," or "our") processes, ships, and delivers new, used, refrigerated, and custom-modified shipping containers ordered through https://shippingcontainersoutback.com. It describes our coverage area, processing times, delivery methods, freight logistics, site requirements, customer responsibilities, inspection procedures, and how to contact us with shipping questions. By placing an order, you agree to the terms below, which are consistent with our checkout process, product pages, Terms of Service, Payment Policy, Refund Policy, and Warranty Policy.
Areas We Serve
Outback Shipping Containers LLC ships throughout the United States, including all 48 contiguous states, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. We deliver from our Houston, Texas headquarters at 10000 Wallisville Rd, Houston, TX 77013, leveraging direct access to major U.S. container ports and a nationwide network of licensed heavy-haul carriers. Residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and job-site deliveries are all supported provided the site meets our access requirements.
Shipping Coverage and Delivery Locations
We deliver to homes, businesses, farms, ranches, construction sites, storage yards, ports, and vacant land nationwide. Coverage includes urban, suburban, and rural locations. Some remote, gated, mountainous, or otherwise restricted sites may require alternate delivery methods, additional coordination, or an accessibility surcharge quoted in advance. If we cannot safely reach your address with a standard tilt-bed or flatbed truck, our logistics team will contact you before dispatch to review options.
Order Processing Times
Standard order processing takes 1-3 business days from the time your payment clears and your delivery address, contact information, and site details are confirmed. Custom modifications and refrigerated units may require additional processing time based on build complexity, disclosed on the product page or in your quotation. Orders placed on weekends or U.S. federal holidays begin processing the next business day. You will receive an order confirmation email immediately after checkout and a dispatch notification once your container is scheduled with a carrier.
Order Cutoff Time
Orders placed and confirmed before 2:00 PM Central Time on a business day begin processing the same day. Orders placed after 2:00 PM Central Time, or on weekends or U.S. federal holidays, begin processing the next business day. This cutoff ensures accurate dispatch scheduling with our carrier network and helps us meet the estimated delivery timeframes shown at checkout.
Estimated Delivery Timeframes
Outback Shipping Containers offers three shipping methods with clearly disclosed handling and transit windows. Handling time is 1-3 business days for every method and begins once your order is confirmed and payment is verified. Transit time depends on the method you select: Free Standard Delivery — 7-12 business days transit, Tilt-Bed Delivery — 4-7 business days transit, and Flatbed Delivery — 4-7 business days transit. Total estimated delivery is therefore 8-15 business days for Free Standard and 5-10 business days for Tilt-Bed or Flatbed. All estimates are calculated using U.S. business days and exclude weekends and federal public holidays. Custom builds, refrigerated units, and international shipments follow separate timelines disclosed in your order confirmation.
Shipping Methods Offered
Outback Shipping Containers offers three domestic delivery methods for shipping containers: Free Standard Delivery (complimentary ground delivery for the continental U.S.), Tilt-Bed Delivery (express paid tilt-bed placement), and Flatbed Delivery (used where tilt-bed access is not practical or for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico). Where site conditions require it, we also coordinate crane-assisted placement. Every available method for your address is displayed with its cost, handling and transit windows, and estimated arrival date on the product page and at checkout before you pay.
Free Standard Delivery
Free Standard Delivery is included at no cost for every eligible order shipped to the continental United States. Handling time is 1-3 business days and transit time is 7-12 business days, for a total estimated delivery window of 8-15 business days from order confirmation. Free Standard uses our national carrier network with tilt-bed placement — no crane, forklift, or customer unloading equipment is required. If you prefer faster transit, Tilt-Bed Delivery is available as a paid upgrade. Free Standard Delivery is not available to Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico (see the section on non-continental U.S. shipping below).
Freight and Heavy Equipment Delivery
Shipping containers are classified as oversized freight. Each 20ft container weighs approximately 4,800-5,200 lbs, and each 40ft container weighs approximately 8,200-8,800 lbs. Loaded trucks routinely exceed 40,000 lbs gross vehicle weight. All shipments are moved by licensed, insured motor carriers using DOT-compliant heavy-haul equipment, and drivers are trained specifically in tilt-bed and flatbed container placement.
Tilt-Bed Delivery
Tilt-Bed Delivery is our express paid method and is offered at a flat rate of $350 for eligible U.S. addresses ($1,500 for container homes, which ship as oversized multi-module loads). Handling time is 1-3 business days and transit time is 4-7 business days — faster than Free Standard Delivery. The trailer bed hydraulically tilts to slide the container safely and directly onto your prepared site — no crane, forklift, or unloading equipment is required from you. Tilt-Bed Delivery is available throughout the continental United States wherever site access and clearances allow.
Flatbed Delivery
Flatbed Delivery is used when tilt-bed delivery is not practical, including deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, and to rare mainland sites where truck approach requires a flatbed rig. Handling time is 1-3 business days and transit time is 4-7 business days. Flatbed Delivery is offered at a flat rate of $450 for eligible addresses ($2,500 for container homes, which ship as oversized multi-module loads). When flatbed is assigned, Outback Shipping Containers coordinates and provides any required crane, forklift, or unloading equipment as part of the delivery — customers do not need to arrange offloading equipment themselves.
Crane Delivery (Where Applicable)
Crane placement is arranged where the site cannot be reached by a tilting trailer, where the container must be lifted over a fence, wall, or landscaping, or where the container is being stacked. Crane services are coordinated by Outback Shipping Containers with vetted local operators. If crane placement is required beyond the standard flatbed inclusion, any additional cost is quoted, disclosed, and approved by you in writing before dispatch.
Delivery Scheduling Process
After your order is dispatched, our logistics team contacts you 24-48 hours before delivery to confirm the delivery date, an approximate arrival window (typically a 2-4 hour window on the day of delivery), site access, and placement orientation. We will confirm gate codes, keyholder contacts, and any pre-delivery notes with you. Live GPS updates and driver contact information are provided on the day of delivery where available.
Shipping Cost Calculation
Shipping costs are transparent flat rates by delivery method: Free Standard Delivery — $0.00 (FREE), Tilt-Bed Delivery — $350, and Flatbed Delivery — $450. Container homes ship as oversized multi-module loads, so their expedited rates are Tilt-Bed — $1,500 and Flatbed — $2,500; free standard delivery remains $0.00. The available methods for your address are automatically determined by your ZIP code and shown on product pages via our ZIP Code Delivery Calculator, in your cart, and on the final checkout page before payment. You choose your preferred method at checkout, and your selection is preserved through the order summary, confirmation page, customer email, and admin order details. No hidden freight surcharges are applied after checkout. Remote-area accessorial fees, if any, are quoted and approved by you in writing before dispatch.
ZIP Code-Based Shipping Estimates
Every product page includes a ZIP Code Delivery Calculator. Enter your 5-digit U.S. ZIP code to see the assigned delivery method, flat-rate shipping cost, estimated handling and transit windows, and an estimated arrival date with the day of the week. This calculator uses your distance from our Houston, TX (77013) origin to produce a realistic delivery window and mirrors the shipping cost that will appear at checkout.
Remote Area Deliveries
Deliveries to remote, mountainous, off-grid, unpaved, gated, or island locations may require additional planning, specialized equipment, ferry crossings, or escort vehicles. Where a remote-area surcharge is unavoidable, our logistics team will contact you before dispatch with a written accessorial quote for your approval. No such charge is ever added without your prior consent.
Customer Site Preparation Requirements
Your delivery site must be prepared before the truck arrives. Requirements include: a level, load-bearing surface (compacted gravel, concrete, asphalt, or firm soil) capable of supporting 40,000+ lbs of concentrated vehicle weight; a minimum 12 ft wide truck access lane; at least 75-100 ft of straight approach for a tilt-bed trailer; a minimum 14 ft vertical clearance free of tree branches, power lines, and overhangs; and adequate turning radius. Detailed guidance is available in our Site Preparation Guide.
Delivery Access Requirements
The driver must be able to legally, physically, and safely reach the placement location. This includes clear signage or house numbers, unlocked gates, keyholder availability, and no soft ground, ditches, or septic fields within the truck's driving path. If any obstruction, low bridge, weight-restricted road, or homeowner-association restriction applies, you must notify us at least 48 hours before delivery so we can reroute or reschedule.
Customer Responsibilities Before Delivery
Before delivery, you agree to: (1) confirm the accuracy of the delivery address, contact number, and site notes on your order; (2) prepare the site in accordance with our Site Preparation Guide; (3) obtain any permits, zoning approvals, or HOA authorizations required in your jurisdiction; (4) ensure an authorized recipient aged 18 or older is present at the delivery window; and (5) disclose any access limitations that could affect a heavy-haul truck.
Delivery Appointments
We schedule delivery appointments in cooperation with the assigned carrier. Firm appointment windows are typically 2-4 hours on the confirmed delivery date. If you require a stricter appointment (for example, a same-day narrow window at a commercial dock or a Saturday delivery where available), please request it in advance — additional carrier fees may apply and will be quoted before we accept the request.
Delivery Delays and Unforeseen Circumstances
Estimated delivery times are good-faith estimates, not guarantees. Delivery may be delayed by depot availability, driver hours-of-service rules, road construction, DOT inspections, permitting, mechanical breakdowns, holidays, port congestion, or other events outside our reasonable control. If a delay occurs, we notify you promptly with a revised delivery window and, where a delay is our responsibility, we work to expedite the rescheduled delivery at no additional cost to you.
Weather-Related Delays
Severe weather — hurricanes, tropical storms, tornadoes, blizzards, wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, high winds, or icy roads — can delay heavy-haul delivery for safety and DOT compliance reasons. When weather affects your delivery, our team contacts you to reschedule the soonest safe window. Weather-related delays are considered force-majeure events and do not entitle either party to cancel a paid order, but we will not charge you additional freight for a weather-caused reschedule.
Carrier Responsibilities
Our motor carriers are licensed and insured under U.S. DOT and FMCSA regulations and are responsible for safely transporting your container from origin to your delivery address, protecting it against transit damage, communicating arrival updates, and placing the container in the agreed position on your prepared site. Carrier liability during transit is governed by federal motor carrier regulations and the carrier's bill of lading.
Inspection Upon Delivery
You or your authorized representative must inspect the container upon delivery, before signing the bill of lading or delivery receipt. Confirm the container matches the ordered size, condition grade, color, and serial number, and photograph any dents, punctures, corrosion, door-seal issues, or paint damage. Any visible damage or discrepancy must be noted directly on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery. Please also refer to our 48-hour inspection window described in our Refund Policy and Warranty Policy.
Damaged Shipments Procedure
If your container arrives with visible transit damage, (1) note the damage on the driver's paperwork before signing, (2) take clear photos of the damaged area and the container's serial number, and (3) contact Outback Shipping Containers within 48 hours at +1 (346) 503-5478 or sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com. We will open a freight claim, coordinate directly with the carrier's insurer, and arrange repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with our Refund Policy and Warranty Policy. Do not modify or paint over damaged areas until the claim is resolved.
Missing Shipments Procedure
If your delivery window has passed and you have not received a dispatch update, contact sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com or call +1 (346) 503-5478. We will trace the container with the carrier, provide the last confirmed location, and — if the shipment is confirmed missing or lost in transit — arrange a replacement or full refund. Containers are physically tracked at each stage; complete loss of a container in transit is rare but is fully covered by carrier cargo insurance.
Refused Deliveries
If you refuse delivery of a correctly ordered, undamaged container without a legitimate reason documented at the time of arrival, the shipment will be returned to our depot and the following charges will apply: the original outbound freight, the return freight, and a restocking fee as described in our Refund Policy. To avoid unnecessary charges, contact us at +1 (346) 503-5478 before the driver arrives if you believe there is a problem with the order.
Failed Delivery Attempts
A delivery attempt is considered failed when the driver arrives during the scheduled window and cannot complete delivery due to an unprepared site, missing keyholder, blocked access, or an authorized recipient not being present. A re-delivery fee — typically equal to the original delivery rate — will apply to the second attempt. We will work with you to reschedule promptly and to resolve the underlying access issue.
Shipping Restrictions
We do not ship shipping containers to P.O. boxes, private mailbox services, or unmapped rural routes without a physical address. We do not deliver to sites that lack the minimum access, clearance, or ground support described above unless alternate equipment (such as crane placement) has been quoted and approved. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order where delivery cannot be safely and legally completed, in which case any pre-paid funds are refunded in full per our Refund Policy.
Ownership and Risk Transfer
Title to the container passes to you upon our receipt of full payment in cleared funds. Risk of loss and damage passes to you upon delivery to the confirmed Delivery Location or, if the driver cannot unload due to site conditions not disclosed in advance, upon the truck's arrival at the Delivery Location. From that point, the container is your responsibility, subject to any active warranty coverage described in our Warranty Policy.
Tracking Information
Where the assigned carrier supports real-time tracking, a tracking link or driver contact number is provided in your dispatch notification email. For carriers that do not offer public tracking portals, our logistics team provides status updates by email, SMS, or phone at each major milestone: dispatch, in-transit, out-for-delivery, and delivered. You can also request a status update at any time at sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com.
International Shipping Statement
We currently ship within the United States (including Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico). International shipping outside the United States is available by quotation only. If you are located outside the U.S., contact sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com or +1 (346) 503-5478 with your destination port, container type, and quantity, and our team will provide a written international freight quote including port coordination, export documentation, and estimated transit times. Duties, taxes, customs clearance, and any port-of-arrival fees are the responsibility of the importer of record.
Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Non-Continental U.S. Shipping
Deliveries to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico are handled via flatbed delivery combined with ocean or barge transit from a mainland port. Total delivery time typically ranges from 3-8 weeks depending on sailing schedules and final-mile trucking at destination. Flat-rate flatbed pricing applies to eligible ZIP codes; ferry, barge, and port-handling costs are quoted in advance and added transparently before you pay. Contact our logistics team for a written quote covering AK, HI, PR, and other non-continental U.S. destinations.
