Warranty Policy
Warranty coverage, guarantees, exclusions, and claim procedures for new, used, and custom-modified shipping containers from **Outback Shipping Containers LLC**.
Warranty Overview
This Warranty Policy explains the guarantees, coverage terms, exclusions, and claim procedures that apply to shipping containers, container modifications, and custom-built container units purchased from Outback Shipping Containers LLC ("Outback Shipping Containers," "we," "us," or "our") through https://shippingcontainersoutback.com. Our warranties are designed to give you confidence in your purchase and to clearly define what is covered, what is not covered, and how to obtain warranty service. This policy is provided in addition to any applicable implied warranties or statutory rights under U.S. federal and state consumer protection laws and does not affect any rights you may have under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
Products Covered
This Warranty Policy applies to all shipping containers and container-based products sold and delivered by Outback Shipping Containers LLC, including new (one-trip) containers; used shipping containers graded as Cargo Worthy (CW), Wind & Watertight (WWT), or IICL; refrigerated ("reefer") containers; container homes, offices, and workshops; container pools; cold storage and specialty units; and custom-modified or fabricated container structures produced by our team.
New Container Warranty
New (one-trip) shipping containers carry the original manufacturer's structural warranty, typically five (5) years from the date of manufacture, plus our own delivery-condition guarantee. At the time of delivery, every new container is guaranteed to be cargo-worthy, wind and watertight, and free of manufacturing defects in the container body, corner castings, doors, door hardware, and flooring. Manufacturer warranty claims are administered by Outback Shipping Containers on your behalf.
Used Container Warranty (Wind & Watertight Guarantee)
All used containers are sold with our Wind & Watertight (WWT) Guarantee. We guarantee that every used container will be wind and watertight, with functioning doors, intact flooring, and no structural holes at the time of delivery. This guarantee is valid for thirty (30) days from the date of delivery. Because used containers have prior service life, cosmetic wear such as surface rust, paint fading, minor dents, and previous cargo markings is normal and is not considered a defect. Condition reports and photographs are provided at the time of sale.
Modified & Custom-Built Container Warranty
Custom-modified containers — including container homes, offices, workshops, container pools, refrigerated conversions, and specialty fabrications — carry a one (1) year limited workmanship warranty on all modifications performed by Outback Shipping Containers. Coverage includes structural cuts and reinforcements (door and window openings, roof penetrations), welding, framing, electrical wiring installed by our licensed team, plumbing rough-in, HVAC installation, spray-foam or batt insulation, interior finishes, and paint work. The underlying container shell continues to be covered by the applicable new-container manufacturer warranty or used-container WWT Guarantee.
Refrigerated (Reefer) Container Warranty
Refrigerated containers include a delivery-condition guarantee that the container is wind and watertight and that the refrigeration unit powers on and reaches the specified temperature range at the time of pre-delivery testing. The refrigeration unit itself (compressor, condenser, evaporator, and control board) is covered by the original equipment manufacturer's warranty, where applicable, and claims are processed through the OEM with our assistance. Refrigerated units require proper electrical supply and routine maintenance per the manufacturer's guidelines to remain covered.
Structural Warranty
The structural warranty covers the container's load-bearing components — corner posts, corner castings, roof rails, bottom rails, cross-members, and the primary steel shell — against defects that compromise structural integrity or the container's ability to remain wind and watertight under normal, stationary use. Structural warranty periods follow the product category above (new, used, or modified).
Workmanship Warranty
The workmanship warranty covers labor, welding, fabrication, and installation performed by Outback Shipping Containers on modified or custom-built units. If a defect in our workmanship is identified within the coverage period, we will repair the affected work at no charge, or, at our discretion, provide an equivalent remedy under the "Remedies" section below.
Manufacturer Warranty
Where a component or unit is covered by a separate manufacturer's warranty (for example, new container OEM warranties, refrigeration units, HVAC systems, appliances, doors, windows, and off-grid systems), that manufacturer's terms apply to the covered component. Outback Shipping Containers will assist you in filing manufacturer warranty claims and provide the necessary purchase documentation and serial numbers.
Components Covered
Covered components include the container's welded steel shell, corner posts and castings, roof and side panels, cargo doors and door hardware (locking bars, hinges, gaskets), flooring, and — on modified units — structural modifications, welded penetrations, electrical wiring and panels installed by our team, plumbing rough-in, insulation, HVAC installation, and interior finishes installed by our team.
Components Not Covered
Components not covered under this Warranty Policy include cosmetic surface rust, paint fading, minor dents, and prior cargo markings on used containers; customer-supplied appliances, fixtures, or furnishings; work performed by any third party after delivery; consumable items (light bulbs, filters, weather stripping past the initial coverage period); and any accessories or attachments not sold or installed by Outback Shipping Containers.
Warranty Exclusions
This Warranty Policy does not cover damage, defects, or failures caused by: (a) improper site preparation, unlevel ground, or foundation failure; (b) modifications, repairs, or alterations performed by any party other than Outback Shipping Containers after delivery; (c) misuse, abuse, neglect, overloading, or use of the container for a purpose it was not designed for; (d) accidents, collisions, or damage during customer-arranged relocation; (e) improper installation of customer-supplied equipment; (f) unauthorized modifications, including cutting, welding, or drilling into the container after delivery; (g) natural disasters, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, hail, lightning, or other acts of God; (h) fire, vandalism, theft, or civil disturbance; (i) corrosion resulting from exposure to chemicals, salt water, or corrosive substances not disclosed at purchase; and (j) failure to perform routine maintenance as described below.
Normal Wear and Tear
Normal wear and tear, including gradual paint fading, surface oxidation, minor scratches, aging of gaskets and seals, and superficial rust on the exterior steel is not a defect and is not covered under this Warranty Policy. Steel shipping containers are designed to develop a light surface patina over time; this is expected and does not affect structural integrity.
Cosmetic Imperfections
Cosmetic imperfections on new containers may include minor factory paint variations, small scratches from transit, and superficial surface marks. Cosmetic imperfections on used containers are expected and are disclosed in the condition report at the time of sale. Cosmetic imperfections that do not affect structural integrity, wind and watertight performance, or door operation are not covered by warranty.
Customer Maintenance Responsibilities
To keep your warranty in force, you agree to: (a) place the container on a level, well-drained surface with adequate load-bearing capacity; (b) keep the roof clear of standing water, debris, and heavy loads; (c) periodically inspect and lubricate door hinges, locking rods, and gaskets; (d) address minor surface rust promptly by cleaning and touch-up painting to prevent progression; (e) maintain any electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or refrigeration systems in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions; and (f) avoid using corrosive chemicals inside or around the container without proper protection.
Inspection Upon Delivery
You are responsible for inspecting your container at the time of delivery, before the driver leaves the site whenever practical. Note any visible damage, missing components, or door operation issues on the delivery receipt and take clear photographs. Report any concerns to Outback Shipping Containers within seventy-two (72) hours of delivery. Failure to conduct a delivery inspection may limit certain warranty remedies for issues that were visibly evident at the time of delivery.
How to Submit a Warranty Claim
To submit a warranty claim, contact our warranty support team by email at sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com or by phone at +1 (346) 503-5478. Claims should be submitted as soon as the issue is discovered and, in any event, within the applicable warranty period. You may also request a claim form or submit documentation through our Contact page.
Required Documentation
To process your warranty claim, please provide: (1) your order number and the date of delivery; (2) the full name and delivery address on the original order; (3) a clear description of the issue, including when it was first observed; (4) high-resolution photographs showing the defect from multiple angles, along with a wide shot showing the container in its installed location; (5) a short video where the issue involves door operation, leakage, or a mechanical/electrical system; and (6) a copy of the original invoice or purchase receipt. Additional documentation may be requested during the review.
Warranty Claim Review Process
Our warranty team will acknowledge your claim within two (2) business days of receipt. We will review the documentation, may request additional information, and may — at our discretion — arrange an on-site inspection by our team or an authorized third-party inspector. Most claims receive a decision within five (5) to ten (10) business days of receiving complete documentation. Complex claims involving custom builds or third-party manufacturers may take longer, and we will keep you informed of the status.
Repair, Replacement & Alternative Remedies
If your claim is approved, Outback Shipping Containers will, at its sole discretion, provide one of the following remedies: (a) repair the affected container or workmanship at our expense; (b) replace the container or component with an equivalent unit; (c) issue a credit toward a future purchase; or (d) issue a partial or full refund of the purchase price, in accordance with our Refund Policy. The remedy selected will be the one we determine most appropriate to the nature of the defect. Coverage under this warranty is limited to the remedies expressly stated in this policy.
Warranty Limitations
This is a limited warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, any implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the applicable warranty period stated above. Some U.S. states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and to the container's original installation location unless otherwise stated in the "Transferability" section.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Outback Shipping Containers LLC's total liability under this Warranty Policy shall not exceed the purchase price paid for the affected container or covered work. In no event shall we be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of use, loss of profits, business interruption, damage to stored goods, or costs of alternative accommodations, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above may not apply to you.
Transferability of the Warranty
Warranties may be transferred to a subsequent owner of the container within the remaining warranty period, provided that: (a) the container has not been modified by an unauthorized party; (b) the container remains in its original installed location or has been properly relocated by qualified professionals; and (c) the original order number and purchase documentation are provided. To initiate a warranty transfer, contact us at sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com with the original order details and the new owner's name and contact information.
Extended Warranty Options
Extended warranty coverage is available for purchase on select new and used containers and custom builds. Extended plans may lengthen the applicable coverage period and, in some cases, expand covered components. Contact our sales team at +1 (346) 503-5478 or sales@outbackshippingcontainers.com for available plans, pricing, and terms.
Governing Law
This Warranty Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law, including the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Warranty Policy shall be resolved in accordance with the dispute-resolution provisions of our Terms of Service.
